Types of Services

The Libraries accessibility shall be as follows:

Monday to Friday                                8:00am to 6:30pm

Saturday                                              8:30am to 5:00pm

The Libraries remain closed on Sundays and all Public Holidays.

Administration Officers are open from 8:00am to 5:00pm from Monday to Friday.

Unless in Known insecurity prone areas, when closing time may be dictated by other factors on the ground the hours of operation shall remain as above.

Searching for Information

The library provides On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), card catalogue and Kardex to help clients to access information.

Processing time

Kenyan citizen - Adult
(16 Years and above)

  • Clear understanding of the library user manual.
  • Duly completed membership form.
  • A copy of National Identification documents.
  • Commitment from the employer or Head of the learning institution.
  • One recent passport size colour photos.

One week after presenting all the required documents or 5 - 10 minutes where library services are fully automated.

Kenyan Citizen - Child

  • Clear understanding of the library user manual.
  • Duly completed membership form.
  • Commitment from Head Teacher and parent.
  • One recent passport size colour photos.

Non-Kenyan citizen - Adult
 

  • Clear understanding of the library user manual.
  • Duly completed membership form.
  • Valid passport.
  • A letter of introduction from home office or a valid work permit.
  • One recent passport size colour photos.

5 minutes after presenting all the required documents.

Non-Kenyan citizen - Child
 

  • Duly completed membership form.
  • Valid passport.
  • One recent passport size colour photos.

 

Institutional Membership

  • Clear understanding of the library user manual.
  • Application letter signed by the Head institution, who will also act as the guarantor.
  • Group to give the name and details of one of their staff, who would be in-charge of borrowing and returning library books.

5 minutes after presenting all the required documents.

The library contains Print and non-print formats

Print formats

  • Books
  • Periodicals - Daily local newspapers, Local and international magazines
  • Government publications
  • Charts and maps


Non-print formats

  • E-resources
  • Audio-Visual materials include: Cassette tapes, DVDs, CDs, etc
  • Talking and Braille books for sight challenged users
  • Toys and indoor games


The library information materials are selected and acquired annually based on our collection development policy. Clients’ information needs and suggestions are always taken into consideration.
